Buhari, who disclosed this during his speech to commemorate Nigeria's 2020 Democracy Day June 12 celebration held in Abuja.He noted "Currently, Nigeria has 14, 554 cases of coronavirus having discharged 4,494 of the cases and suffered 387 deaths from the global pandemic which has overwhelmed many countries in the world", according to the Guardian.Recall that Buhari has directed School activities to remain closed just last week a memo was sent to further updates regulatory, "the federal government disclosed this through a circular dated Friday 8 of May, channelled to heads of education commissions and regulation bodies in educational Sector across the country" Meanwhile, Nigerian continues to records new cases of COVID19 at daily basis across the States, and World health organisation, WHO, is yet to approve any cure or Vaccines for Coronavirus, therefore, easing of school across the country may take longer than anticipated.
We therefore, recommend that federal government should educate students about Coronavirus disease Prevention guidelines, including appropriate, frequent use of hand hygiene, use of nose mask, respiratory hygiene, symptoms associated with COVID-19, non- contact greeting in order to safely reopens school, so that students can return back to school amid pandemic.Furthermore, increase desk spacing, limits mixing of classes for Students, after school activity, for example; Student in a class will stay in classroom throughout the days he/her has study, while only teachers will be allowed to moves between classroom using different entrances, if not available, Schools should establish such order for each classrooms to have an enterance and exit in the classroom building to avoid COVID-19 outbreaks among student.
